Supported devices: what MisterSignage runs on

MisterSignage forces no proprietary box on you. Any screen that can open a web page is enough: a smart TV (LG, Samsung…), an Android box or TV, an Amazon Fire TV, a Raspberry Pi or a plain PC. The screen shows a code, you attach it from your account, and you broadcast. For a rugged 24/7 kiosk mode, a dedicated app (Android, LG/Samsung TVs soon) takes over from the browser.

The principle: a screen, an address, a code

Any device able to open a full-screen web page can become a MisterSignage screen. You open the player address, a pairing code appears, you attach it to your account, and the content arrives. No complex install, no proprietary hardware to re-buy. To understand the tool, see what is digital signage and the software in detail.

LG smart TV (webOS)

On an LG TV, open the player address in the Web Browser and enter the code: it plays right away. For a permanent kiosk mode (locked full screen, always-on display, no screensaver clock), a MisterSignage app for webOS is coming to the LG Content Store — installable like Netflix, no developer mode. Meanwhile, the TV's store mode plus turning off the screensaver are enough. More: digital signage on Smart TV, Android or Raspberry Pi.

Samsung smart TV (Tizen)

Same principle on a Samsung TV: the TV's Internet browser opens the player and shows the code. A dedicated Tizen app (native kiosk mode) is planned, on the same model as the LG version. For intensive 24/7, a small Android box stays the most reliable option (see below).

Android box, Android TV & Amazon Fire TV

This is the most rugged option for permanent signage. The (free) MisterSignage app for Android turns an Android TV box, an Android TV or an Amazon Fire TV into a kiosk screen: full screen, auto-restart on power-on, remote updates. It installs in seconds — download the app. On Fire TV, the app installs by sideload (Downloader) and appears on the home screen, controllable with the remote.

Raspberry Pi, mini-PC, Windows & Mac

A Raspberry Pi in kiosk mode (full-screen Chromium on the player address) is a cheap, reliable signage classic. A mini-PC, a Windows PC or a Mac work too: any recent browser in full screen is enough. These devices need nothing special installed — open the player, enter the code.

Pro signage players, LED walls & totems

Professional signage players that embed a modern browser work the same way. For an LED wall or a totem, it's the controller (or the box feeding it) that opens the player: the wall is seen as a single screen, at the resolution and format you define. MisterSignage handles custom formats and resolutions per screen.

Browser or app: which to choose?

The browser is enough to start and for screens on during opening hours. The dedicated app (Android today, LG/Samsung TVs soon) adds what a TV browser can't do: stay on with no screensaver, auto-restart after an outage, lock the kiosk. For 24/7 or a shop window that must never fall back to live TV, prefer the app. See digital signage without a box for the trade-offs.

Keeping the screen awake

A signage screen must stay on. On an Android box or the TV app, anti-sleep is handled by the application. On a smart TV in browser mode, disable the screensaver and auto power-off in the TV settings (often under “Energy saving”), or switch the TV to store/kiosk mode. That is the safest setting on any device.

And with no network? Offline playback

Once the content is received, the screen keeps playing even if the connection drops: the player caches the current slideshow and resumes on its own when the network returns. An internet outage never leaves a black screen. This holds on every device, browser or app.

Which device to pick to start?

Already have a smart TV? Start in the browser, free, in 2 minutes. Need 24/7 reliability or a permanent window? Add a small Android box (~€30-50) with the app. A fleet of several screens? Standardise on the same box for simple maintenance. Either way the software is the same and 1 screen stays free for life. The pricing depends only on the number of screens, not the hardware.

Frequently asked questions

Do you need a special box or player for digital signage?

No. MisterSignage runs on any screen that opens a web page: LG/Samsung smart TVs, an Android box or TV, Fire TV, a Raspberry Pi or a PC. No proprietary box to buy. A dedicated app (Android, LG/Samsung TVs soon) adds a rugged kiosk mode for 24/7.

Does MisterSignage work on my LG or Samsung TV?

Yes. On LG (webOS) and Samsung (Tizen), open the player address in the TV browser and enter the code shown. A dedicated TV app (full-screen kiosk, always-on display) is coming to the LG Content Store, installable with no developer mode.

Does the MisterSignage app work on Amazon Fire TV?

Yes. The MisterSignage Android app is Fire TV compatible: it installs by sideload (Downloader), appears on the home screen and is controlled with the remote, with no Google Play Services.

What happens if the internet goes down?

The screen keeps playing the content it already received: the player caches it and resumes automatically when the network returns. An outage never leaves a black screen.
